I hope that all the IUCAB colleagues are well. My family and we are well and Enric, Liberio, Luis, Javier, Jordi and all the colleagues from Spain are “as healthy as a pear”.
Here in Spain, we are living a hard situation as you can read on the news. This week was expected to be the worst in number of infections and deaths. It`s being terrible in Madrid, where the contagion has been exponential, but it has spread all over the country. Unfortunately, our Governement did not listen to the World Health Organization (WHO) and we did not take the sanitary measures in time. We are confined at home since March 14, and Im afraid it seems this is going to last for weeks.
Regarding work, our organization, the Spanish Consejo General of Agentes Comerciales, launched the Commercial Agent Virtual Office supported by Google. This has allowed us to adapt the entire organization in a short time to remote work. Now more than ever I am glad to have launched this tool for our 20,000 members. However, as you well know, the profession of commercial agent is intimately linked to interpersonal relationships. Thats why in Im afraid in the coming months the income of commercial agents will suffer a big loss.
As for the measures that the Government of Spain has developed to help the stop of activity, we can highlight a benefit for the compulsory cessation of activity and the postponement of taxes to 6 months. They seem insufficient to us and we are demanding from the General Council of Commercial Agents of Spain the development of complementary measures to help companies and professionals in our country.
As you indicate, we would like to know all the measures that have been implemented in all countries in relation to our profession in particular and to companies and professionals in general.
I am taking advantage of the confinement to enjoy the family and learn English looking for the end of this nightmare so I could enjoy the company of all the friends of the IUCAB. We miss you and ask you to take good care of yourselves.
I am a convinced optimist and I believe that everything that is happening is going to change the world that we know without a doubt and we have to take advantage of it, so that among all IUCAB colleagues we give a definitive boost to the profession and adapt it to new forms of business.
While that comes, as I said, these days, please take good care of yourself and enjoy the little things that we normally cannot do, because it will soon pass.
A hug for everyone
